Friends of JP
Friends of JP is an interview segment that allows chefs, restaurateurs, musicians, and environmentalists to highlight their contributions to culinary arts and their particular craft. This segment extends the culinary journey beyond the table and heads into the sound studio, the sea, and anywhere else cultural contributions abound.
Jason Phillips is a freelance food and travel writer and photographer. His culinary journey started in 2004 when he started a career in the US Merchant Marine working onboard tugboats. This path led him to several unique ports of call around the Caribbean and Mexico, and he has been hooked on traveling ever since. Throughout his travels, he learned about different cultural cuisines and the effect it has on others. He took this knowledge and went to a culinary academy in 2019 where he met Chef Art Grayson. Chef Art encouraged Jason to publish a book about his travel and culinary career. Jason published his book, The Sea Cook in 2021, and his blog is dedicated to Chef Art for his tutelage and friendship.
